Honours

FOURTH YEAR HONOURS,
GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ARTS (ADVANCED)
AND HIGHER DEGREE by RESEARCH PRELIMINARY

At the University of Western Australia, English and Cultural studies offers a stimulating program of study towards an Honours, Graduate Diploma or HDR Preliminary degree. The Honours year is both exciting and challenging. It forms an excellent base for postgraduate work in literary and cultural studies, and is widely recognised by employers as a prestigious qualification. More information on the Honours program can be found here.

Eligibility: You are eligible for Honours enrolment if you have completed a B.A. (Pass) degree from UWA or another institution within the last seven years, with grades of 65% or higher.

If you have doubts about your eligibility, or are only just ineligible, see the Honours Co-ordinator.

If your B.A. (Pass) is more than seven years old, you will be directed to apply for entrance to the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) or HDR Preliminary. (Both courses have a quota.)

How and when to enrol:
Deadlines for enrolment are - Students wishing to commence Honours, the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced), or HDR Preliminary in semester 1, 2008 should enrol by: 2 November 2007
Students wishing to commence Honours, the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced), or HDR Preliminary in semester 2, 2008 should enrol by: 16 May 2008

How to enrol:

Decide whether you wish to enrol full-time or part-time, and whether you wish to enrol in Honours in English, or Joint Honours in English and another discipline, or Cognate Honours in English with another discipline. Make an appointment to see the Honours Co-ordinator, bringing along your completed copy of the "Enrolment Information" form - found at the back of the Honours Outline booklet. All students are required to discuss their enrolment with the Honours Co-ordinator: we cannot process your application until this has been done.

The 2008 Outline is available now in the
English and Cultural Studies, Communication Studies corridor, Ground Floor Arts Building at UWA; this includes the Enrolment Information form and all coursework and dissertation information for 2008. You can also download a PDF version of the 2008 Outline.
